Snuck over to Winnie for a few hours with my youngest, Jacob, (age 9) yesterday morning. We launched at Cutfoot and headed out to the big lake. SE wind was pushing some pretty decent rollers and made for a nice drift right outside of the gap.
We started picking up a few eaters (14-15″) right away in 9 FOW. Chartreuse jig & shiner was the best bet. Jacob landed the biggest fish of the day – his personal best (unassisted) – a nice 22″ eye. The photo makes it look HUGE as he’s a little guy and he knows how to hold the fish right out into the camera. (Not sure who he learned that from…)
The wind really started to howl around noon and he was starting to check-out so we called it a day.
