Got some bad news today. My wife’s grandmother passed last night and we will be putting our fishing/camping vacation on hold for a couple days.

I will be driving our motorhome and boat and I am wondering what HWY 84 is like running from Pine River to Longville and then up through Federal Dam? IS the pavement in good condition? I wouldn’t mind seeing the country side on our way to Winni. Or should I just stick with 371 to Cass Lake?

    thanks

hwy 84 as you stated is the most curvey road I have ever seen. its got more curves then 3 playboy models. I drove it at nite so didn’t see much, if your not in a hurry appears to be nice outdoor scenery. theres not many stretches of road that you can hit 55 mph on. I would drive it again ONLY during daylite and if I am not in any kind of time restraint!!

I’ve got a place just off 84 ten miles S. of Longville. To say 84 is curvy is an understatement. The road itself is in great condition & beautiful scenery – but OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS. Many 90’turns, specially by Ada lake – 6 within a mile or two of Ada. I have seen many people, including motorcycles, wreck on that road due to speed. Also keep an eye out for deer. Saw 13 near the road by Wheeler Marine Saturday.

SHORT CUT: If you want to avoid going through Pine River, after passing Jenkins by a mile or two, look for the bridge over the Pine River. Once you see it, slow down quickly and turn on CR 44 which will become 84 in a mile or so and save you a couple of miles. It’s only on the right side of 371

Curvy YES!!!. I think speed limit average would be 35-40mph. I drove it once and said I’d never do it again unless I really had to go that way. Definetly scenic.
I’d rather go up 371 and then east at walker myself.
