Alright so I went to the DMV today and they said they don’t have a record of the boat being under my name, which it is. Can I just get this boat registration somewhere online and get it done with? Starting to be a hassle and I am getting sick of it.

I believe on-line will be tied to the same Record of ownership as well. I’d straighten it out now.

Get it taken care of now, especially since you are trying to sell the boat. This will only add to the hassle.

Is the boat in your name or just the trailer? How big is your boat? In MN boats over a certain size are titled. Try to find out who the boat is registered to. If they can’t be reached to sign a transfer, just get the title transfer form and “git her dun” (hint hint)

Well it’s a 16ft boat and I signed for it when I got it. It really doesn’t make much sense. I’ll just call my own bank tomorrow. They also sell boat registration.

Now that’s confusing Adam. How can a bank sell state issued registration?

Then again banks confuse me anyway….

Normally this site is for renewing your boat registration.

Hey, were you 18 when the boat was put in your name??

    Either way, good luck.

Doesn’t the sticker on the boat have the registered owner’s name on it? Maybe I’m thinking of the other half of the sticker they give you… The one you’re supposed to carry with you on the boat.

Welcome to the big boy world of adulthood. Crap rolls down hill and adults are always at the bottom.

You will find somethings are best done face to face, this is one of them. Go down to the DMV explain to the nice lady what the problem is. Play the “I’m a poor college student” card and I don’t know what to do. The nice lady at the DMV will walk you through the process to get the sticker. Maybe you will need a duplicate title, maybe she can find it for you. Take a digital photo of the registation currantly on the boat and print a picture so she knows what you are talking about.

It’s really all not that painfull but it’s one of those things you better get use to doing. Dealing with the government in one form or another happens quite often.

    Good luck.

Figured out I wasn’t 18 when we bought the boat so my dad put it under his name. I called our bank which also has a register office, where we have dealt with this stuff before and they said he can come in and just renew it. So we got it all figured out guys! It’s a lot easier talking to someone you personally know.
