What’s a good knot to tie leadcore to a snap or momo ? Do you remove the lead center ?

I use the Willis Knot. It has not failed me.

I only tie a single overhand knot where the sheath ends. Also, make a loose overhand knot before inserting the mono. Slide the knot to position and tighten after the mono is in place.

The Willis knot looks very interesting for lead core. I normally use the Albright Knot if I’m not using a barrel swivel. Also use the Albright to connect to the backing line.

For tying to mono I use the double uni knot, and yes remove the lead first.

For mono, I love the Willis knot. We use it for both walleye & salmon fishing all the time and it has yet to fail.

For super lines to lead core, I prefer the Albright knot. I also remove the leadcore if possible. Some older lead core lines don’t like to give up the lead in which case I just tie the Albright with the lead still in it. Haven’t had any issues with that either so far.

I dont know if there is a name to how I connect monofilament or braided line to lead core but what I do with the lead core is tie an overhand knot in the line creating a bump in the line and then taking my other line whether it is mono or braid and tie an improved clinch knot around the lead and cinch it tight down to the bump in the lead and clip the tag ends and you are good to go this connection is very easy and safe to reel through your guides on your rods and this line to line connection has never failed me once. Hope this info will help you.
