What are your go to crankbaits for trolling on Leech lake? We are headed up the week after opener so I’m looking to stock up.

    Thanks in advance.

I generally stick to rapala RS shads and jointed RS shads and have good luck.

Cranks? More like buckshot spoons and deadsticks! That water is going to be cold if the ice comes off before then. I would venture to guess trolling cranks would be too aggressive for the sluggish fish. Spinner rigs or live bait rigging would be my advice.

You’ll want baits with a slower wobble such as HJ12 husky jerks, original floating #11 rapalas, and quickly becoming my favorite cold water cranks are the rapala max raps. I’m also thinking scatter raps may be awesome in cold water.

Rattlin rogues also have a very good slow wobble which works great for water temps in the 40’s.

As soon as temps hit 50 I really like using bent lip SSR shad raps. Good luck
