I would like to see the Wild pull off an upset. I think they have the capabilities to do it…just depends on what Wild teams shows up!
April 30, 2013 at 3:56 pm #1166916When the Wild are on, they’ve shown that they can beat any team in the NHL.
The question is, what Wild team is gonna show up? If its the Wild team as of late, I’d be suprised to see this series make it to game 6.

I agree with this. The Wild drew the best possible seed at #8 for a team that is playing very well on the road. Which team will show up? Which Backstrom will show up?
I hate being disappointed so my expectations are low at this point.

Wild forfeit rest of the series out of fear.As much as anything, I am looking forward to in-depth post game interviews. There isn’t as much trash talking as there used to be, but it does still exist. I love the quotes. I suspect Konopka should have some beauties.
Its the Stanley Cup. Anything can happen. I might even win the cup this year.

And there’s the opportunity for the Wild. On paper, it’s Chicago in 4 or 5 games at most. But that’s on paper.
Just look at the playoffs last year. The Kings were a #8 seed as well. It was pretty obvious right from the first round that Vancouver decided they could just phone it in. And therefore, LA kicked thier @ss in the first two games, taking both games IN CanuckLand.
Let’s hope Chicago isn’t take the Wild seriously and already are looking past them. If the Wild are hitting on all cylinders, they could make it way more interesting than it should be.

April 30, 2013 at 7:33 pm #1167007Wild beat Chicago for the upset, yea! Get everyone fired up and get swept in the next. Chicago does not get out of the first round, again.
April 30, 2013 at 7:34 pm #1167008If you are an 8 seed playing a 1 seed, there is nothing better than all the media and fans basically giving you no chance. It is a far better situation than having people say the Wild might surprise you or the Wild are going to make it tough on the Hawks.
PB2Posts: 329April 30, 2013 at 8:39 pm #1167020I can’t imagine there is anything worse than being an 8 seed playing 1 seed that has lost 7 times all year.
Also I hate the Kings analogy as they were many who had them the pre-season favorite to Win the Stanley cup last year but they vastly under-achieved in the regular season.
We can dream all we want but if we win 1 game its great 2 wins is a miracle.
josh aPosts: 588April 30, 2013 at 8:53 pm #1167025I’m pretty sure Barry Melrose picked the Wild to be in the finals preseason. Go Wild!
April 30, 2013 at 10:36 pm #1167041YOu have got to be f’ing kidding me. Backstrom out. He’s the one of the big reasons I have been waiting all these years for a playoff berth, to see what he can do.
And you got to love Minnesota fans and their self loathing. Sometimes I wonder if they take pleasure in whining about mn teams and then losing so they can complain about that.
April 30, 2013 at 10:42 pm #1167044Come on Josh, be the big story on the first night of the playoffs.

Yep, that’s what I told Michelle.I think they scouted Chicago well. I see them playing different than I have seen them play all year. Aggressive penalty kill and trying to get soft passes to open areas behind the defense and have the forwards beat the defense in a race to the puck.
April 30, 2013 at 11:14 pm #1167056The Wild are also being very aggressive on the puck in their own zone.
They have what you say, “Good sticks” tonight. Picking off passes, lose pucks and winning stick battles.

May 1, 2013 at 2:00 am #1167127Hell of a game. Wild looked like they did everything very good. Harding played great. Cant wait till game two.
Go Wild
Wallster ><((((>May 1, 2013 at 2:03 am #1167129Bad luck for the Wild, to lose on a fluke. Chicago looking bad and very beatable. #1 seed needs OT to break 1-1 tie.
Bring on game 2.
