I need a lake recommendation near Madison WI with early Bass bite. I’m meeting my brother in law from Waukegan IL,(which is about halfway from my place in Mpls and his house). Either this weekend or next. Or is it still to early. Don’t need a freeze your butt of trip.

I would look at Waubesa and Mud Lake.

Crystal lake by Lodi or lake Mason by Briggsville! Both are no brainers for numbers with a chance of a 6 pounder. 30-50 fish days are common on both these bodies of water.

Boy it’s been quite some time since I fished that part of the state, but way back when Lake Wisconsin had a reputation as a wonderful early bass bight with trophy potential. A guy who needs to chime in here is Joel Ballweg ..PM him in case he does not see this

Thanks All! Will I be able to run on plane on these lakes? Fred is bringing some fuel system parts that we need to install on my 225 Etec. And then do some fishing.

PM sent. You can run just about anywhere you want on Madison. Lake WI is a different story but they put the channel markers in on Saturday. Lots of trees and stumps in that lake!
