I am looking for a Walleye rod that does it all for $100. I want this rod to be use for jigging, rigging, casting blades and casting small cranks. I have a real for it Shimano Symmetry with 8lb mono on it. I need some suggestions. I was thinking about the Limit Creek LCS66MF, but they are out all over. Can any one suggest anything else. Thanks in advance

Looking for a Rod

My son bought me a CarrotStix rod for Father’s Day 2 years ago. Not something I would have bought for myself. But I began using it and now it is my favorite rod. I’ve never had a rod cast like this one, and the sensitivity when rigging or jigging is excellent.
It IS bright orange – like a carrot – which I took some ribbing for from my buddies, until it began out fishing them. Now they don’t say too much about it.At least worth a look.

Their newest lines are lightweight, built with high quality components and feel great in your hand. If spring would ever get here I could tell how they fish, I got a new one I’m itching to use. You owe it to yourself to check them out.

Some stores have some Limit Creeks your looking for; 4 Seasons for sure, and probably a couple of the others & new inventory coming next week.nhammInactiveRobbinsdalePosts: 7348April 25, 2013 at 1:17 pm #1165765St.Croix 7′ med fast premier $110. Finest rod you can get for that $ and good all around action. I was in a couple stores last night feeling out all the rods around d that price range including the shimanos and new Jason mitchells and none will get you close to the premier. IMO

The $100 price point is probably the most competitive out there. I suggest you try to match the “feel” of these to your style. I have fished all the rods mentioned the past couple years between friends and guiding clients.
I prefer a faster action than some and find the flex of the Roach rods to be slow for jigging but better for casting cranks…
Its tough to find one rod that “does it all”. If we are just talking walleye, I would also consider a 6’9″MLF LC rod.April 25, 2013 at 3:17 pm #1165795I was in Gander Eden Prairie last Saturday, they had some of their Gander rods on sale.
I think it was their Elite series that is regularly $129.99 on sale for $79.99. Felt like a nice rod….I bought one for my brother for his birthday. It sucks buying fishing stuff as gifts for people because I won’t give them something I wouldn’t use myself so it ends up costing me way more than I intended to spend….oh well…my bro got a nice rod to use. If I hadn’t won a Loomis Walleye rod at the St Jude benefit in Rochester a couple weeks ago I probably would have grabbed one for myself. They also had some deals on St Criox rods. I don’t recall the details but they were if the rod was between this price and that price you got a certain amount off and there were a couple ranges with different discount amounts.
April 25, 2013 at 3:34 pm #1165799If you can swing a little bit more, I suggest a st. croix premier. If you fish lighter jigs (1/8-1/4) then get the 6’6 MLF, that is my all around walleye rod. Great for jigs both casting and vertical, pulling 1/4 lindy rigs, throwing up to #5 shad raps, and many other applications when in need. I even used it for bluegill yesterday.
If you fish heavier jigs (1/4+), or want to throw a crank with more drag (#7 shads, wally divers, reef runners etc) then get the 6’6 MF. Both rods are $110 retail. D!cks sporting goods has a sale right now, $20 off a st croix rod over $99 (with club coupon), so it would drop to $90.
