Chevy Radio Issue…

    I have a 2007 Silverado 2500HD. It’s a late 2007 model with the new body style.

Ever since I bought the truck in 2010, I’ve had sporadic issues with the radio/interior sound. The radio display flashes a few times, then becomes silent. The display is still up, but the preset buttons directly below the display do not work. I can switch between bands and sources, but there is no sound.

In addition to the radio going silent, all other cabins sound go silent as well. This includes the clicking noise of the blinker.

This seems to occur most frequently when I go over a bump, but is very unpredictable. Yesterday and today, it occurred at exactly the same place, as I was turning left out of my work parking lot. There is no bump here.

I’ve suspected a wiring issue, but don’t really want to tear apart the dash if I don’t have to. I’ve check that the fuses are tight.

What also adds to confusion is the confusion is that I can usually, but not ways, fix the issue by turning off the ignition and restarting the truck. This isn’t fun when I’m on a long road trip with no sound.

I’d quit going to work and go fishing instead.
