I am looking at both. price is not a concern as the best price on either is the same. I’ve tried both on like the collar hood features on frabill. what i don’t know is wet, windy weather performance. both are shells and i have underlayers for warmth if nessasary. both seem to get high reviews, but wondering what you guys or gals have experienced.

What I have found is that cabelas does not honor their warranty on “non current” models. They change their rain gear line up yearly…

The bibs are good till the crotch leaks in about 2 years or so and depending on how the zippers are done now the flap they use does not keep water out. The rubber sealing zipper was water tight till the tiny teeth wear out and no longer hold about the time the crotch seam lets go.

I would never pay full retail price, watch for close out models since the warranty in nothing. Use their $ off coupons as well to get the price down. If you play it smart you can get last years gear for 1/2 price or less.

Another brand for me next go around however.

Stormsuit hands down is the better rain gear!

Sorry. I know this isn’t a suit you were comparing, but I recently did a lot of research on the same thing and decided on the striker ice suit. I used it this season in extreme conditions and am really happy. That being said, I have been using a columbia quad system 20 yrs old which I loved. I am extremely happy with this suit, and I am tough on them. Not cheap, but well worth the investment! I can use mine all seasons (climate control). You might want to check it out?

I got a full set from gamehide this year, the stormhide bibs and jacket. They are very nice, nice waterproofing and seem to be built very well. The bibs and jacket together were around $80 with shipping. I also wore the bibs ice fishing late this winter, worked great when it was 60+ out and everything was melting.

They are both nice suits. I have never wore the FXE but my dad has. Its comfortable but what we noticed is in heavy rain the shell on the FXE doesnt shed the water like the Cabelas goretex. It gets heavy and droopy. I have had my Cabelas suit for 7 year now and is still like new.

I have had the Cabelas Guide Wear for 8 years and have never gotten the least bit wet. I purchased the insulated ice guide wear last fall and love it also. Have wore this one in a few pouring rains on Pool 4 this spring, dry as a bone. I believe the Frabill suit is very good quality and the purchasing decision was based on Cabelas having the suit on sale, saved $180 and brought the price to identical as the other brands. Probably cannot go wrong with either one.

Thanks for the input. I ended up buying a NIB fxe frabil from a guy named Joel Nelson. Thank goodness he never wore it on TV or it may have gone for twice the price as a collectors item . Now that I have made this purchace we will have warm temps and bluebird skies. Thanks everyone, thanks Joel.
