Ok here it goes I picked up a 17 and want to add enough backing so I can fill up the rest of the spool with fire line 15 lb. and 110 yards. I just picked up 2 sea lines and had to re do the one because im picky and the guy at thorn brothers left the spool to empty on the first one but the second one he got dead on they count by revolutions so it matters to me Thanks guys

If you have 2 reels its easy. Put the fireline on the 1st reel first, then add the backer to fill the reel. Just take note of how much you put on. Then attach it to the 2nd reel and reel it off. Now fill the 1st reel with the documented amount of backer then add the fireline. Wala done. If you only have one reel it gets time consuming. But it can be done:

Use the step above but you will have to unspool the line onto 2 seperate reels. Once the backer to braid knot shows up, cut it off and then spool the braid onto a different reel. Then respool the backer onto the empty 17, then tie on the braid from the other reel and spin it on.

Hope this make sense! If you are picky this is the way to do it, otherwise you are trusting someone else’s guesstimate. Good luck!
