Switching from 12 volt trolling motor to a 24 volt, not sure how to wire my Ranger it has 1 red 1 black 1 orange 1 white. Have heard different views, book says to change wiring of plug, any opinions?

The ranger style plug does have the option of “jumping” the wires through the plug. It is much easier than wiring the batteries in series. i have done it for a couple friends boats, but without the instructions for the plug, I can’t describe it much further.
All it really involves is switching the hot plug to another terminal on the plug. That terminal is jumped (in the plug) to a second terminal to make it a 24v connection.
