Anyone ever been to Thailand?

I have an opportunity to work in Thailand for a month and I am taking it. Before my company was looking at 1 year, 6 month and 3 month stays. That was not feasible for me. But 1 month will go very fast. I will have some weekends off and I will be staying in Ayutthaya about 45 miles north of Bangkok. Ayutthaya was the capitol of the Siam kingdom from about 1300-1700 and has a lot of ruins from that era. There certainly is alot to see right in the area I am staying in. I also plan on visiting Bangkok for a weekend. After that I am not sure what I am able to see based on my schedule. If anyone who has been there has some suggestions I would love to hear form you.

    Thanks Bill

All I can say, Bill, is that in Bangkok you’ll see a lot. A whole lotta lot.

Don’t do anything BrianK wouldn’t do.

I just watched Hangover II again and I can think of many many things to NOT do in Thailand. Don’t steal a monkey, get a facial tattoo, eat marshmallows, go to the chardonnay room, let Alan drive a boat, or get married.

I hear Mike Tyson is available for parties over there.

I was there in the late 60’s. I know it has changed a lot since then but all I can say is that the Thais are great people and very friendly. Bangkok in the 60’s was alive. Make sure you visit some of the Buddhist temples. Another place that was great to visit then were the beaches in southern Thailand.

Just because it looks like a woman, it doesn’t mean it is a woman. At least in Pattaya Beach lol.

I’ve wasted hours and hours on this site. You can get so much info on any destination there, it is fantastic.

Been three times Pattaya twice and Phuket. Make sure you check for an adams apple. If there’s an apple, there’s a banana…if you know what I mean. Expect 99 degrees and 100% humidity. Rains every day. If you enter a bathroom and only find a hole with a bucket of water, try to find a different bathroom.

Pattaya Beach as well in 1996(Operation Cobra Gold). Watch for the ladie boys or shims(She/Hims)as we called them. Good times……Only word I remember is Layo-Layo which means faster faster for the Baht Bus(taxi)driver.

He’s around, but doesn’t frequent IDO too much anymore. He’s been back in the States for a few years now.

This brings back so many memories. Baht Bus…bwahahaa! Kinda of like the honcho’s in Okinawa. I participated in Cobra Gold in the early 2000’s.
