    Sitting at pool 2
    Jeremy is selling the nitro.

I’m sad and bitter that this boy is buying this boat that I have came to love and adore. My first Muskie follow my first flathead. Many fun memories. I didn’t think I’d take it like this. But I wanna take the kid out at the knees. he won’t be as nice to it as I was.

Double sad because as I watched him test drive the boat I fished in the rain for a couple of hours. And still no bites.

On a lighter note. Does anyone know about fossils?

Found this one on south shore. What is it?
And would you hire me with this tattoo?

So SOMEONE needs a new boat. Not mentioning any names but his initials are JEREMY LIEBIG.

Sorry for your loss, your story reminds me of when I had to sell my 2000 camaro z28 6spd because the kids were getting too big I even named her Camarette
    Time will heal..hopefully.

Don’t be sad it’s gone, be happy you caught (at least) two memorable fish out of it.

That fossil might be Biff, a very rare and old rock. One of the oldest rocks on Earth. Could be worth millions of $$.

Perhaps Biff can fund the purchase of my new boat.

So cute. Weird how we get a mini emotional attached to these things. I’m more optimistic now.
May be a side effect of being an instant billionaire. Boats for everyone!
Tattoo is just that. A fish hook. -figured ill never be a hand model so why not.

I wonder if they could make a scratch and sniff tattoo of stink bait for Briank?

That is a fossil of a columular coral (Phylum – colenterata) Ancient analog of modern day corals. (Maybe a halycites or favocites) Very common in the midwest. There are many species but that one looks like it has been rolling around in a river bed for some time. Similar to the smoothing of a river rock. Typically they do not look like that went dug out to the rock.

Sorry about the boat. I feel ya.

And yes Briank, I am actually a geologist.

You are a geologist ???!!! Wow. I found it on the south shore Lake Superior. I thought it was coral. Found it in the mouth of the brule. It was in the water when I found it. Does that information give more of a probable specie id?

I just got back in town. Where you found it makes sense given the rounded conditions of the fossil. I would say it came from way way way upstream somewhere from a limestone outcrop, given how rounded the rock is. Would be a little difficult to break down the exact species given the wear on it. Some of the characteristics that would help ID it are gone. But it is a cool find. Sometimes I find myself looking at road cuts for fossils if I am near one. I can almost always find fossils in limestone road gravel too if you know what to look for.

Here is a link that will help you learn more if you are interested. Kinda geo nerdy stuff though. There is a lot of info out there on fossils in Minnesota. Even locations/areas of where to find the good picking.

Look at pages 7 thru 9 there are drawing of what that fossil could be.
