This week, your Senators are scheduled to debate a so-called “universal background check” bill being pushed by lifelong anti-gun zealot, Senator Chuck Schumer. Schumer’s bill would MAKE YOU A CRIMINAL if you simply transfer a firearm to an aunt, uncle, cousin or lifelong friend without the federal government’s approval.

Even worse, President Barack Obama’s Justice Department says that Schumer’s bill will only be effective if it’s coupled with MANDATORY GUN REGISTRATION.

Please call both of your U.S. Senators TODAY and tell them to vote “NO” on Schumer’s “universal background check” bill. Simply call the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to speak with your Senators by name.

    MN Senators direct #’s are

    Senator Klobuchar 202-224-3244

    Senator Franken 202-224-5641

Call today, tomorrow, and put a reminder on your calendar to call next week too!

I love how Oblamebush is flying the Newtown parents out to DC to put on a big show on Airforce 1. Thats right friends, not only are your 2nd amendment rights at jeopardy, but you are paying for the campaign.

I saw that and immediately thought how tacky it was. Not only for the president but even those parents that agreed to go. Shameless publicity on the part of the president.

It seems everyone wants to control my right to bear arms. yesterday in Cabelas I had to surrender my cased gun and have it inspected and transported to the gun library. where others who either were practicing concealed carry or open carry didn’t have to…and this in a place where you can buy guns. this infringement by anyone whether public or private must stop. I demand unfettered access to anywhere no matter what.

There should be a law for politicians that makes it illegal to speak with pawns behind them.

If your thoughts are so profound they shouldn’t need anecdotes or human props to muddle emotion with judgement.

I don’t have a problem with revised background check bill. Keep in mind that those who should not get a gun are the Aunt, Uncle, Cousin or lifelong friend to someone as well. For a background check to be effective they need to have some teeth to the penalty for those who give false Info. on the form. Now MANDATORY GUN REGISTRATION that is a different matter.

The problem with all this, they rarely prosecute anyone who does lie on the current system, that is broken at best.

    From the NEWS:
Two pivotal senators have announced a bipartisan deal on expanding background checks to more gun buyers. The agreement could build support for President Barack Obama’s drive to curb firearms violence.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Republican Sen. Patrick Toomey of Pennsylvania said their agreement would help keep firearms from criminals and the mentally ill.

The checks would now apply to commercial sales, such as transactions at gun shows and online. The sales would have to be channeled through licensed firearms dealers, who would have to keep records of the transactions.

Manchin said that since the slayings of school children and educators in Newtown, Conn., both sides in the gun debate must find common ground. Toomey said he considers expanded background checks common sense, not gun control.

How does this STOP the CRIMINAL?
    Key word here being “CRIMINAL”

How does forcing your Mother, Uncle, Brother, Aunt, etc. from selling/transferring ownership of a Firearm to you through a Licensed Firearms Dealer prevent a Criminal from Obtaining a Firearm or anyone from using a Firearm in a Criminal/Illegal manner?

Nothing I’ve. seen in any Gun Control Law really does anything to STOP CRIMINAL intent or behavior. Gun Control Laws only affect the Non-Criminal.

What we really need are CRIMINAL CONTROL LAWS, and that will only happen when Society changes to teach Morals, Ethics and the Value of Human Life.

    Just my :2cents:

Out of all the shootings we have had, how many of the shooters were not allowed to have a gun yet bought one from some place like a gun show? 1 maybe 2 out of 100’s? Why punish the nation for 1-2% of crime? The 1-2% will just find them illegally somewhere. They arent going to say “darn, now that I have to have a background check I guess I won’t go shoot up that school.” They go to any inner city and buy a gun with cash within 10 minutes and never see the person again. Or go to a friend or family members house and steal one.

From what I remember the guns were either stolen or bought legally (shooter able to buy a gun). I don’t see what any more background checks are going to do.. if someone is going to commit a crime there are dozens of ways to illegally get a gun without going to a gun show.

This is another feel good law. Makes the uninformed public feel safer and happier with their government. Just like the limited magazine size law. Not going to do a damn bit of difference except hurt the law biding citizens.

Va. tech, Colorado theater shootings, Abby Gifford shooting all shooters mentally imbalanced. Va.tech shooter was declared mentally unfit and ordered for treatment but still able to buy guns across state lines to use in shootings. Will this revamped back round check help weed out those like above I don’t know but I sure hope so.

One thing fore sure the backround check system we have now is a joke nation wide..

And they will all be full of self satisfaction when it passes knowing that they have ended gun massacres…until the next one.
