How do you get rid of a junker?

I have a 1995 Ford Aerostar. The engine has about 120,000 miles on it and still runs really well. The problem is there are so many issues with the Suspension and brakes it is no longer drivable. I have listed it in the auto part section on craigslist but got no responses. Is there anyway I can get money for this as scrap metal or at a junkyard?

    Thanks.

I’ve actually had better luck listing stuff like that on the regular for sale ads on CL. I got rid of my wife’s 20 year old commuter car after it got rear ended that way. Listed it in parts category and got no response. Increased the price $250 and listed it in Cars as a repairable and got calls.

It’s basic psychology, I think. If it’s too cheap, it makes people suspicious even if you’re being totally up front about what’s wrong with it. I’d put it out there and say first XXX takes it because I don’t have time to fix it.

call your local salvage yard and tell them what you have ,and ask what its worth if you drive it in,it could be worth as much as $300 or so

Your best bet is to put it in the regular classifieds for $400/bo. List all of the problems and suggest that it would best to be sold for parts or salvage.

I had a ’98 Taurus that finally died. I called salvage places only to be told they would give me $50 because of the long drive. A few donation places told me they weren’t interested or Rogers was too far to drive. I posted it on craigslist for $500 or best offer and had 5 emails in an hour. I emailed the first one back and he offered me $350 cash and he could pick it up today. When I got home it was already located on the tow truck, he gave me the money, showed me what I needed to fill out on title, and towed it to the junk yard.

donating your car can get you $500 for a tax deduction.

Ask yourself, self what would Red Green do with a perfectly good running engine? What’s that spray sealant they been advertising on TV and turning a pickup truck into a boat?

    Oh yeah Flex Seal!
