Thanks TMF
Wish a customer could walk into ANY store (be it GM, WallyWorld, Cub Food, you name it) and be able to find an employee like you appear to be.TMF89Posts: 338April 7, 2013 at 5:27 pm #1160190Thanks for the compliments guys. One more thing I will say is that the gun sellers DO make commission, and a lot of the time that’s their bread and butter. It’s hard to live when you’re hourly and your wages are barely double digits. So while I’m not excusing ignoring a customer or leaving one who would still like to look at more guns, you guys have to realize that if they don’t make sales, in some cases they’re not able to pay bills, or buy groceries.
Also, if anyone has any complaints/comments/concerns, we do have a 1-800 number as well as an email that you can use to contact our corporate offices. PLEASE USE THEM!!! I have no respect for someone who complains to people who can’t do a thing about it, and then bitches that nothing ever changes. Unfortunately there’s not a very good system in place for us store associates to inform corporate of issues, and frankly they take what the customer has to say way more seriously (if we [censored] they don’t lose money, if you do that means you’re going to Cabela’s next time, and they don’t like that).
Most associates have cards with the contact info on them, if not we’ll gladly try and find an associate that does and get you a card. It honestly does next to no good to complain to us, at the very least respectfully ask to see a manager, because they have more sway with corporate, and speak with them more frequently than us hourly associates do.
Here’s a link to the online survey that gets sent directly to Base Camp (because we’re too outdoorsy to just call HQ Corporate right?)
http://gandermountain.iwrsurvey.com/GanderMountain/Here’s our contact/email form
https://secure.gandermountain.com/contact.shtmlAnd you can call us at 1-888-5GANDER (I don’t know if that’s the same number listed on the Complaint/Compliment Cards, but it’s our general Customer Service number).
Oh and one last plug, if you do a survey via online or phone and mention a specific employee, that employee gets a gift card. Which is awesome. But frankly I get more enjoyment out of the fact that someone thought I did a good enough job to mention me by name, and if the it was in the online survey, our managers print out a copy and show us, so we can see what gets said about us.
Oh and as long as I’m posting, ammo/ARs/handguns are currently back-ordered anywhere from six months to a year and a half. And the only people you guys have to blame for that is yourselves (yeah yeah yeah Obama started it but frankly I’ve been telling people from the start that it never would go anywhere, and if you honestly believed they were gonna take away your guns, that’s your own fault for scaring yourself), if the gun buying craze never happened, it’d be business as usual. It’s not like we don’t want to sell you [censored], right now most factories are working 24/7 so you can buy those thousands of rounds of 9mm for your Armageddon stockpile. Can’t we all just take a deep breath and have a little patience? I know I’d prefer that to having another incident where a guy was such a [censored] that our cashier ran out of the store in tears, because apparently not only is a 10 box limit on ammo unacceptable, but he’s too busy being a crazy gun nut to even bother reading the signs in the first place.
Now keep in mind that part of me is using this as an opportunity to do a little venting of my own, and also that I’d like to take the time to say my tone in this thread has been and will be as light-hearted as possible. We all get pissed off guys, it’s just how we go about handling it.

Ummm….name? I’m going to ask for you to be transferred to Woodbury.
April 8, 2013 at 4:50 am #1160309Not all the Woodbury guys are bad….. There is one though….. irritates me to no end but I won’t complain because he’s trying to do his job. He just doesn’t relate to me very well. I just bought a rifle from Woodbury a couple of months ago. The employee was cool with me, I think I was cool with him, I was getting an UNBELIEVEABLE deal as it was and he made it even better! Meanwhile, the guy I don’t care for came along asking rather loudly, “Who’s waiting to buy a gun?” REALLY??? No tact and the guy that was working with me saw my face and just rolled his eyes. “Hard to believe people seem to avoid working with him, isn’t it?” I laughed and agreed.

But that’s how knowledge works folks. Very rarely does a person know EVERYTHING about a particular subject.
You obviously haven’t been around IDO a long time. There are plenty here who know everything about every subject.
