On Monday the open water from the head of Pepin extended down to about Hanson’s Harbor. Today there was open water about half way down to the public launch. Open water was seen off the point at Hok-Si-La and trailer point too. Not so much at trailer point.

Looking downstream from Lake City I could not see any sign of a tug and barges.

Between Oak Center and Zumbro Falls we saw maybe 600 swans and a mess of sandhill cranes gathered near some fast moving run-off. We also saw somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 deer in various spots from Lake City to Rochester. Good night for viewing wildlife.

Charlie B was sitting in Winona Wednesday. It and two others opened up the barge loading site there.
