Any of you guys use the off leash park in South St Paul?

    What about Battle Creek?

I have a 5 month old pup that I’d like to socialize.

I’ve been to the Battle Creek one a few times, but it’s been a few years.

I’ve been to the Battle Creek dog park a few times. There is an area called “The Bowl” where dogs and owners can socialize. Open area to play fetch with a couple picnic tables there to hang out on. There are also a couple miles of wooded trails through the woods that is off leash.

Dogs will be dogs there. Some dogs just don’t like other dogs and little skirmishes break out every once in a while. It’s par for the course. I have never seen anyone get too bent out of shape about it.

Make sure your dog has all of his shots. There was an outbreak of blasto that was spreading around dogs that used the park last year.

I think there is a Yahoo group you can join. Get updates on poop pick up days and stuff like that. Speaking of poop. Make sure to have a bag IN YOUR POSSESSION. You can get a ticket if you don’t have one. (Rare) And there is poop and mud everywhere in the spring. Wear you hip waders! My dog loves the place but needs a bath after every visit.

x2. After a few incidents, my bud is not nearly as keen on strange dogs approaching him. Dogs are like people. Some are just [censored].

    Thanks guys.

    I have a 5 month old Drahthaar.

He gets overly excited around people. Id like to get him out and used to different people and envirnments.

He’s a very smart friendly little guy but extremely stubborn.

I did Battle Creek last year quite a bit. Our beagle is pretty social with people, but usually ignores other dogs and can get a little sassy when the males get too friendly on the sniffing.

That being said, I’ve never had a problem with overly aggressive dogs there and I like it because it’s big enough with enough trails that you don’t feel like you are in a confined space and can ge away from the big groups.

I use the huge one in Woodbury. Also the med sized one in Cottage Grove. Be careful with your pup and guard her from possible aggressive dogs. I’ve had to get after poeple more than once with out of control aggressive dogs. No injuries or anything super serious but you hate to see your pup get scared badly.

There is a dog park just outside of Rosemount too. There is a fee for this park however. Make sure you get the pass if you go as they check for passes often.

Dakota Woods is a really nice place to socialize your dog. I know all other Dakota county parks have an ordinance against dogs being off leash..

Not a fan of Battle Creek I bring my dogs to the Cottage Grove dog park. It is smaller but I have had nothing but good expirences there.
