Winter was brutal on my flag. Finally got out and got it changed Monday.

    Fly high, fly proud.

I want to put a flag pole in my front yard. Just can’t decide on a location yet.

You probably know this, but many local VFWs and other vet’s organizations offer to respectfully dispose of flags that are worn beyond repair in a private ceremony using the approved methods.

Great point. I’ve got 3 or 4 in my garage from a storage unit purchase. I need to take them in for proper retirement.

Im hearing taps in my head for my friends and family who died for that Flag and our freedoms, and now lay in peace at Fort Snelling cemetary. I look at my own AMERICAN FLAG and will replace it with new colors. Thanks for posting.

I am going to be putting mine back up tonight since it is nice out finally. I have a telescoping flag pole that I got for christmas a few years ago. It works great but it freezes up in the winter and I can’t take the flag down…the pole seems sturdy but I just don’t trust the pole in real high winds so I unfortunately go flagless in the winter. Don’t want the thing coming through a window in the house or dropping on a car.

Don’t forget to call before you dig Kooty…there was an underground line right where I was hoping to put the pole.

Don’t forget the Cub and Boy Scouts. We have a retirement ceremony each year for our pack where we Honor many many flags.

Sometimes local Vets help us too.

    Way cool!!

As I recall, it is to be a solemn and private ceremony.

My dad always flew one at home and when they would get faded & tattered, he would fold it up, place it in a brown paper grocery bag and burn it in the burning barrel. No big fanfare, they would just be retired.
