Do any of you wear hearing aids? If you do, what are your thoughts on them. Looks like I will be next in line for a pair.
Any information will help.
What type?
Brand?
Are they working for you?
Thank you, Bruce

I’m interested in any responses as well. Both the FW and I have a hard time hearing (each other).

Sorry, I don’t do earrings.
Yep, my ears ring all the time.
Bruce, I have had Beltone, they are pricey but you do get good follow up service.
If I were you, I would check a couple of brands, Siemons is a good one too.
I would plan on spending a couple of grand each. There is all kinds of aids, at all kinds of prices.
Any good company will let you try them for a while maybe a few weeks to see how you like em and get along with em.
If you can’t test em move on to another company then.
Remember these aids have it all in one small piece, the microphone and speaker and all in a very small package.
This my take on it.
Also, be careful where you put em when you take em out at night. For some reason pets, especially dogs will get ahold of em and may even eat them.
Be aware of this.
You will be amazed at all the sounds you have been missing. One thing that is a common problem with all aids is back ground noise, that really raises hell with talking to someone right next to you. They pickup up that and makes it hard hear what person next to you is saying.
Have a good one, hope this helps.
Roger
Bruce,
I am wondering if you don’t need to see your physician or ear dr.
Certain kind of medications can cause ears to ring. Just something that I had sperience with myself too.

I failed the draft physical because of my hearing during the Vietnam war (1969). My hearing has been bad for a long time, although no one ever noticed or did it handicap me in any way. I have tolerated it all this time but now its getting worse fast. I will be seeing a Audiologist Tuesday, referred by my doctor.
Getting old sucks.
Bruce, my parents, age 72 & 73 decided to get hearing aids for themselves at Christmas. My siblings and I were having my doubts about mom and dad as we know they are starting to age and fears of dementia starting to settle in. They would always ask the same questions over and over as well as not being tuned into most conversations.
They spent $4500 each on Audibel hearing aids with remotes and are so happy. It has been a major improvement for them. Mom has said over and over that they waited too long and now rarely miss a thing! I know they are expensive but well worth it. My 2 cents.
I wanted to make sure you heard me, so I repeated myself. I think Costco has the best prices as well as they stand behind their products. They have all kinds of types and you can try them before you keep them. I have gone down the path of being tested by the audiologist at my ENT and had it done by Costco as well. Costco gave the same results as my ENT. I know I need them and Pam is begging me to get them, but at only 48 years old, I just can’t bring myself to do it. The 13 years on the shop floor and having a vent inserted in my right ear has almost wiped the right one out completely. The left is pretty bad as well. I just can’t do it yet…
Bruce,
I have had a set 6 years, as said before, try them out, ck several places for pricing, and service. You will find mid priced aids that have 2 microphones, for different situations, digital amplification of only the frequencies you need help with etc. If the person does not take time to fully explain the options, find someone else. Also, don’t forget to negotiate the price, extra batteries, etc.
Good luck.
Yes to HA – my daughter told me I was rude not to wear them, and they work – I have PHONAK – MAyo Clinic audiology dept. do not wear on the water or hunting -not good to lose them, you can insure them-worth the investment. Porky
Quality hearing, 2 blks ne of maplewood mall (also in Eagan). Been with them 15 years. Local people, very knowledgable. Excellent products and don’t sell it if you don’t need it. Prices will amaze you and they give excellent service IF you need it. I strongly recommend them.
No question, if you think youmay need h aid, YOU DO. When you get them, ask your homeowners insurance carrier about insurance for them. $5 to 10 per mo on a rider should get you replacement coverage.
HAPPY HEARING.

I got my first one 5 years ago and now have one for each ear. I am tagging this Audibel post as I do NOT have Audibel, but WISH I did. I went with a cheaper version because they had a connection with the business my wife works at. I have now tried Audibel and it just makes me want to have those. Cost are high, but quality is there and the service is great ( at least in my area) Don’t put it off, you are missing more than you think you are.
