It’s not just a small dog thing. I have two large dogs and they will eat it right out of the chute like soft serve if I’m not paying attention.

Pugs are stubborn. He’ll stand over the poo, paw at it to get it out of the snow. If I yell at him, he might just stare at me like it is a game of chicken.
He’s got bad teeth to begin with. I can’t imagine that the poop helps that. I’d like to have them just yank out all the loose and rotten ones on him. It would probably leave him with about 2 or 3, the poor guy.
April 2, 2013 at 3:59 pm #1158459After ten awesome years we had to put our best friend Max down the day afer Christmas. Well, after the melt there were still signs of Maxs territory. A very bitter sweet clean up BTW……we are in the market for a new duck lab if anyone knows of any. Thanks

I never got the name of the product but my vet was telling me they make a diet supplement that makes their waste smell so bad that one whiff and they leave it alone. My pup was doing that but she finally gave it up. jerrApril 2, 2013 at 5:08 pm #1158495Quote:

I may have to ask my vet about that stuff

I tried it and it didnt work. Think about it. Your dog eats sh$% and its not going to eat sh$% because of some other bad flavor?? I believe it works to some degree but it certianly is not guranteed to work. It only added spice for my dog.

So it make the Sh$% taste better
If anything, I’d leave it out for the rest of the animals in the neighborhood to consume, so when they come into my yard and leave their waste behind, maybe it’ll discourage Zeus from eating theirs too
April 2, 2013 at 7:08 pm #1158558I’m with Suzuki on this one. I tried it and it didn’t work. The only thing that works for me is to stand out there with them while they do there business. Unfortunately that’s not always an option.
April 2, 2013 at 8:06 pm #1158583I am not interested in putting anything in my dogs diet that doesn’t need to be there. They can say it is safe all they want. To me, I blame myself for being lazy and not cleaning up after them right away. Especially when I figure I got at least a 2 hour job in front of me that I wouldn’t have to do if I took 2 minutes every day.
April 2, 2013 at 11:15 pm #1158642I don’t even own a dog anymore. Yet I read two and a half pages about poop. my kids better pick up their toys or else
April 3, 2013 at 12:10 pm #1158809Got home early yesterday, went out and scooped up what got buried in the snow. FW does not pick it up, sits and waits for me to get it all.
Scooped up much snow and ice/water scraping up the old stuff from the lawn.
Ended up with 2/3 of a 5-gal bucket full of (3-Gallons)D.S. and ice water. Just Gross, should just dump down a Sanitary manhole but it’ll end up in my garbage can for Fridays pickup. That load is gonna Stink.
PS: There is still some left frozen in the Ice/Snow
April 3, 2013 at 12:19 pm #1158814In the summer I have tried keeping a bag in a small, covered plastic trash can so i don’t waste as many bags. You want to talk about gross, how about a container that has trapped the small and has fungus growing on the excrement. I need a better system

My aunt and uncle in Dallas (where it gets steamy!) use a Diaper Genie for their dog poop. Cuts down on the smell!April 3, 2013 at 2:09 pm #1158878I have Somalians living right behind me (oh, the stories I could tell….). I am always tempted to flick a shovel full over the fence.
April 3, 2013 at 3:26 pm #1158921It’s going really well, thanks for asking. I’m almost done with this horrible, nasty job.
[RANT]As an aside, could I just bring up the fact that I don’t actually own a dog?
Yes, yes, what a joy it is to clean up dogsh!t left by people that think anything that’s within leash-length of a road or sidwalk is public property. Thank you all, so much.
Honestly, given the problem that I seem to have with it in a relatively quiet neighborhood, I can only marvel that there aren’t more incidents where property owners go postal and start picking off yappy little ankle-biting barking rats with deer rifles while they are in mid-squat pinching one off on the front lawn. While the owner is not the dog’s fault, I do feel that the deterrent effect of seeing Mr. Schnuggums converted into a 4 foot long red streak would cause roughly 40% of these oblivious owners to take the hint. April 3, 2013 at 4:11 pm #1158960Because it would cause needless pain and suffering–to the dog.
