What’s that dark spot?

This morning on the way to work in Red Wing I saw a dark area out on the ice of Lake Pepin out from Hanson’s Harbor a ways. Tonight on the way home that dark “spot” had grown a substantial amount and comes well down into the lake past the point.

Closer to Lake City another black area could be seen below Hok-si-la. This one didn’t appear to be wet, as in open water, but it sure won’t take much to get it to that point.

A guy can almost feel this winter misery floating downstream.

It’s open water on Central Point, as the ducks, seagulls and eagles are definitely enjoying it.

From the Corps website, all locks are operational and open.

The BRUCE L. HAHN is on Pool 6 and likely to be the first tow to kick off Spring of ’13 for the lock operators.

Hope my LFC (Least Favorite Cousin)finished painting the bullnose on L&D #3!

I know you like misery Glenn…..I saw the recipe for your garbonzo bean soup. That would be misery in the first degree. And the only thing you left out that might improve it is to soak your feet in the water you boil the ham bone in first.

There was a dork who dropped a wheeler in the drink not far from where I see this open water. Unlike the sled, they got the wheeler out right away.

Now with the lake starting to give up the ghost on this stinky ice thing, maybe I’ll get to wave at you as you drift past on a ice chunk wearing your thong bathing suit drinking your warm Pfeiffers and eating pickled eggs, eh.

Yup. Mondays and Thursdays are days we work. Not all mind you. Let me know ahead if you are going to drop in and I’ll let you know if we are there or not to save you some steps.
