I slipped down to the Mississippi at Red Wing today to do some crappie fishing. I left the boat home. Oh, how happy I left it there.

The public launch on the Wisconsin channel had vehicles parked almost to the woodshed and when I drove past to get to where I was going they were backed up equally as far. Everts was a different picture. They were backed up half way to Hagar City on the highway.

The old landing in Colville was getting a workout too and rigs were parked all over the place. The only place that must have been crazier might have been at the dam. Coming home over the high bridge at Red Wing the boats were lined up for a drift downstream and looked like a segmented snake a 1/4 mile long.

That river is lunacy today. I can’t imagine what tomorrow is going to be like.

You’re just bitter you weren’t out there fishing on this beautiful day.

Yeah…I know what you mean… At 8:30 this morning I tried to get to Everts and the trucks and trailers were backed up almost to Hager City waiting to get down the hill. So my boat is in the shed now. I may still have to drive down and get some bacon wrapped treats though.

Ha. I didn’t find it necessary to “be out there” to fish today. I had a great time where I was at and was still “on the water”.

It is wonderful to have that fishery available. It has been a long winter and it is great to see the outdoor fraternity doing what we do best…gettin’ after it!

Cheers to all fishing in the boat today.

We are currently staring out the window at the cabin near Aitkin and 15 inches of snow on top of nearly 3 feet of ice.

Can’t wait to get back to Pool 4 Sunday night.

I think you two got a work out today.

Treat fishermen well and they will take care of their own.
