Looking for recommendations on an all-purpose landing net. Only have a 16′ boat so nothing gigantic. Looked at Frabills but they have many negative reviews.
    What say you folks?

I have two frabill nets, and have no problem with them at all. Fair prices… and I get the rubberized ones that don’t get hooks stuck in them as easy, and they seem easier on the fish. One smaller one with a flat bottom for crappie and bass fishing. Other is an extendable handle for walleye and when using the trolling rods and such.

There are better ones at higher prices… but how much does it matter. I tossed all the non-rubber ones out, and have been happy ever since.

I always tell people to buy Beckmans because they are solid and last forever. But they are not cheap either.

I have a frabil and Beckmann. Beckman is a much better net the yoke is plastic on the frabil and metal on Beckman. Definitely get a coated net to save the hooks getting stuck.

To me beckmans are to heavy and pricey

I had them and I really like this one

    ranger landing net

extended handle or you can get a fixed one

I really like there extendable handle – it is not a round shaft like the Beckman I had so it is easier to line up the lock when extending

I found mine at Sportsman Warehouse

and sold my Beckman as it was to heavy to use to land fish by myself

Crossin Eyes got one of these 1-2 years ago. I dont know how long they last but they are a blast to net fish with. You can extend on the fly and they do reach out.

Stowmaster!! I have been using one for years and love it. It folds up and fits in a storage compartment.

It takes very little space when folded up and when you need it, open the basket and pull the handle til it clicks no buttons to push or things to make sure are locked.

Mine is about 8-9 years old and was through 3 or 4 tournament seasons and the netting is just as good as the day I got it. The paint is starting to wear off the handle where it slides but that is it.

I doubt I will ever need to buy another net.

I too have one of these, they are great nets, especially good when you have inexperianced netters in the boat, they don’t have to stab at the fish, just extend and let the fish swim into the net…That’s great that they increased the load capacity when extended, mine does feel flimsy, but you’re not supposed to lift the fish when it’s extended..

I also would recommend StowMaster. I have two and they are the cats meow! I am sure I will never have to buy another net.

I would second the ranger nets from tacklewarehouse.com. Heavy duty build and cheap compared to most.

X2…I’m pretty sure mine is indestructible. At $50 or so, it is a bargain. Made in USA also.
