Are you going to have the sides go all the way down if so keep in mind if its fully enclosed its going to get hot and humid in there if you go plastic. If the plastic is uv rated like green houses the plastic should last a long time easy 10 years. Reinforced polly goes around $7 a lineal ft for twenty ft wide for replacement quality green house polly for hoop greenhouses.

March 25, 2013 at 11:25 pm #1156132My parents had a poly tarp style on the farm in South Dakota. Didn’t last two years. The wind out there ate it up.
March 26, 2013 at 1:41 am #1156156Don’t do it man. That poly crap will be nothing but a hassle. The UV from the sun eats that poly so it’s just a matter of if it lasts 1 year or 2 at most.
Do the metal with at least the sides that extend halfway down at least.
Be sure to check to see if your town has ordinances that restrict structures like this.

March 26, 2013 at 8:44 am #1156176am putting it up north at cabin so i dont have to tarp the boat after each time i go fishing and leave again—i thought i can start with metal and with top for sure and as time goes add on the sides and if it portable its ok to put up without taxes and all that going up or permit needed–i was wondering about the snow and branches also busting up the poly ones–thanks for input

I am currently in my third winter with my poly from Menards, appprox. $400 in silver. It is a humidity creation machine. Once it starts to get warm enough here this spring, I will be opening up the front panels to allow air access to prevent humidity build-up. During the winter, in order to get snow off the top, I have to tarp the boat (just cover and shake ice off) or the frozen water droplets on the inside all land inside the boat while I am pushing snow off of it.
Another minor issue is water from spring runoff running through the structure. It does not create any rutting damage. I am sure with one of two fixes that would not be an issue.
Make sure you put it in a place where it won’t restrict your movement. I was in after wood later this winter, got stuck just off my drive and while attempting to get it out, backed into it with the truck’s hitch and poked a hole in it. I will be using duct tape to repair it.
You cannot buy a replacement tarp for the specific package, you must buy the entire package including the frame again.
I also wasn’t sure what my status was in my current location, so I didn’t use the anchors to permanently cement it in place. I have been thinking about making a circle drive and a drive through second garage for my boat and other toys.
I have a friend who is using the same one to store his boat in it and built in shelving along the top from bars which is kind of a nice feature.
I was concerned about the wind blowing it away, but it seems that the biggest concerns I have had are snow caving it in and humidity formation and the frozen droplets.

December 6, 2013 at 2:51 am #1369176Ordinarily putting cash on hand crafted sheds at your home or office suite can truly demonstrate as the best venture alternative. After all you add values to your property, which give rich returns when you offer or give the space on rent.
