Our boys from Battle Lake made the big show this week…

I’ll be making the trip down to Williams on Thursday to cheer ’em on. Looks to be a tough field in 1A but I’m thinking we can compete pretty well. We start 2-juniors, 2-sophomores and have a freshman point guard, so we could very easily be making another trip next year.

I’m surprised by all of the Christian schools in 1A…don’t remember there being that many back in my HS days…but that was 20 yrs ago. They do a little recruiting?

    Anybody else got teams going?

    Go get ’em Battlers!

Good luck to Byron as well – cousin is the head coach..

If Minnesota hoops is like Wisconsin’s, all the private, religious schools “recruit” players. When they can pull kids from 6-10 different school districts, they will offer discounted tuition for certain “students”.

Just look at our D3 and D4 boys and girls State Tournaments. Completely dominated by private schools.

    Coincedence? I doubt it.

Heck, I’ll throw a Good Luck to Hayfield as well…used to be my neighbor a short drive to the East.

No they don’t…Find proof before you make such a stupid statement. Do kids go to the programs that are “better” than others so they can get noticed by colleges? Absolutely. But are private schools giving $ to students so they go to their school to benefit the sports program? No…
What typically “fuels this fire” are jealous parents who’s kids lose to private schools…
    Coincedence? Yup…

Ya sure, ALL of the hockey kids at ST. Thomas pay full tuition, and girls basketball at DelaSalle too.

My son is a senior on the Annandale team that faces Byron and since I’m a native of Pine Island I say,,,GO CARDS!!!

Our senior class is having an exceptional year in sports, the football team goes to state (hard loss to lourdes) and now the BB team. Great bunch of kids that work hard and fun to watch!

Hell yeah!! Go Bears! We’ve been so good for so long, finally won the Section final to get to state for the first time in our history.
