Grouse Dogs post has got me pumped up too… last fall I started building my “Dream Shack” by the Pond. I have owned the property since 1991 and have always stayed in my Fishhouse and recently my Camper. I have saved my pennies for the past 5 years and got enough to break ground. It is 26 x 28, with the bottom being the garage and the top, living quarters. I am doing it all myself, with the help of friends who all have their specialty. (minus the power supply, had to hire that out) Here are some pictures of it taking shape. BTW, I insist if you come up, you bring a cooler full of “whatever” it is that tickles your fancy It is alot of work, but when it is done, it will be worth it

If I had lakeshore – this is exactly what I would do – Plenty of storage on the main level and living quarters up.

    Very nice!!!!!

    Very nice G!

I had heard years ago that it’s cheaper to build “up” (meaning adding a second story) then it is to build “out”.

Did you find that to be accurate?

I would have to say that would probably be true. The floor (cement) and the roofing materials, were alot more $$$ than construction lumber. I will say, it is alot more labor intensive though, if you were paying someone to build with a 2nd floor as opposed to it all on ground level

Nice job G! That looks a lot more comfortable than a fishhouse or camper.
