It looks like the legislature is being pressured by a special interest group instead of using biology to make decisions on the Mn wolf population. Which doesn’t surprise me.

Sad since they were the ones that MANDATED the hunt in the first place. (or do I have this wrong?)
I just know it wasn’t the DNR, but they ended up with the fire storm from the pro puppy groups.
arklite881southPosts: 5660March 15, 2013 at 10:15 am #1152243Might as well cancel pheasant hunting, deer hunting, grouse hunting, Waterfowl hunting………Berry Picking??
Hunters will never gain a majority vote to continue to pursue animals. Meat in this day and age grows off trees right? OH……..WAIT……..I KNOW………Wolves are the chosen ones.
Wolves have been managed by big city sentiment for years and have ignored Wolf center bioligists findings.
In years of debating this issue I have not talked to 1…..1 person who has his or her opinion based on any factual bioligical data supporting a position to not manage a top sprawling predator. The state legislature will also have no data to support a close. Just want re-election and the majority of Minnesota doesn’t want ANY hunting to take place anywhere.
Just hope they don’t get a “Walleye Crush”.
arklite881southPosts: 5660March 15, 2013 at 10:18 am #1152244MAYBE….The state DNR might stand up and show it’s voice for the irresponsible management practice that is about to take place. OH WAIT…This is the same DNR that had NO OPINION when asked point blank. It’s about economics and not about what is right. Isn’t the DNR responsible for managing Minnesota Wildlife or is that a State Reps responsibility?
Angler IIPosts: 530March 15, 2013 at 10:43 am #1152247I couldn’t Agree more chris. It just goes to show that logic is lost in virtually everyone’s vocabulary these days. It almost reminds me of a young kid crying in a checkout line to his mother over a candy bar. If he cries enough he’s going to eventually get the chocolate. BS if you ask me….
March 15, 2013 at 11:02 am #1152250I suspect fishing in general will become a target sooner rather than later, after all it is way past time to civilize the American populous by eliminating the barbaric practice of hunting and fishing! Remember, these creatures have rights too!
March 15, 2013 at 11:09 am #1152253Personally, I think the DNR did well this time around. Erring on the side of caution with the numbers harvested ect.
Now if the legislature didn’t mandate a season and the DNR folds to the antis, well that would be another story.
March 15, 2013 at 12:15 pm #1152271I watched a bit of this discussion yesterday. It was amazing how stupid of questions some of these people were asking the DNR bioligist. Who voted for these maroons!

Sorry, my list was broke. I’ll come back to it after I get out of a meeting.

I would John but do any of those people know the difference between a Poodle and a Wolf? If you had a feral cat, a horse, a Poodle and a Wolf in a line up, could they pick out the Wolf?
Personally I think you have a better chance of the Pope calling you back then one of those Senators. I truly, deep down in my heart believe these people never see a e-mail from a voter.

March 15, 2013 at 2:14 pm #1152326Imagine that, I got 4 automatic replies to my email stating they won’t read or respond because I’m not in their voting district.
Time to start calling I guess.

Exactly and nothing but freaks run for office.
March 15, 2013 at 5:27 pm #1152419Did anyone by chance read last weeks Star Tribune’s article from Dennis Anderson titled “Shift underway in managing resources”. My fear has started to come true to this oberservation. In the fact that, just because you work for the D.N.R. does not guarantee that person is pro hunting and fishing. Now with that being said please dont think that I dont believe that the majority DNR employees have our best interests at heart. But just a word to the wise to beware

March 15, 2013 at 5:39 pm #1152424i would really like to know how each one of them voted, wasn’t the vote 7 to 6?
March 15, 2013 at 7:04 pm #1152448I got this reply from Senator Dave Osmek:
Quote:
Mr Kutz,
Excellent. I was a “No” in Environment & Energy and will be one in Finance.
Honestly, I doubt it will even get a hearing.

March 15, 2013 at 7:54 pm #1152462Must be nice to get healthy donations to campaign funds to vote no…I think I am going to start a SAVE THE SQUIRREL campaign because I think there are too many nuts and not enough squirrels…
March 15, 2013 at 7:55 pm #1152463My guess is they appeased the freaks and when it comes time to legislate they will say there are too many more important things to work on.
March 15, 2013 at 9:38 pm #1152494Well, some pretty scary bills have made it through the Senate committees so it wouldn’t surprise if liberals find a way to get this wolf thing through.
I guess I’m witnessing history, one way or another.

That seems logical but it also shows support. This scares me.

March 20, 2013 at 10:56 pm #1154403All those moose that were collared, two have already been killed by wolves. Looks like PETA like people will have to choose between them.
