    I like FishNutBob’s post here better….

The DNR Commissioner stated that the Feds have taken over the case and we (sportsmen) will be surprised when this breaks- That was said 1 year ago.

I have the feeling the price of walleye in restaurants will be going up soon.

At the restaurant purchasing level, I understood it did go up quite a bit during the last 2 quarters.

This isn’t about Zander. Follow FishNutBob’s link to his post in 2011.

This is about illegal waste of a resource.

They’ll have to switch back to Zander when netting comes to an end. That or Canadian walleye.

I have a feeling we will be let down again. The feds and the dnr have never shown an interest in doing what is right.

When did $100 become a stiff penalty? What a joke, make the consequences mean something and get a couple example cases out might do something.

I’m pretty sure I know of the indian/indians who were ivolved in this and the feds did step in at least thats what the locals are saying up there, but haven’t heard much of what happened or is gonna happen. I do know I didnt see this particular indian netting last year at all. I will be up in that neck of the woods tomorrow and I’m gonna see what I can find out.

I see its been two years since I found this Wanton Waste of Fish and we our discussing it again which is good.

Nothing new from enforcement or a case solved that I know of but maybe the word got out you better stop your waste and netting.

Im seeing alot of small fish 10 to 12″ when Im fishing which is good for the lake future looks good for Leech

I was on Leech last week after season and watched three guys that looked like they had lost something or had a frozen net in the walker bay area north of shore. Going to take a look this week. Over 3ft of snow on leech now need some heat.

it’s always good to bring things like this up. People often take things for granted, this being taken care of is one of those things I hope is delt with with a stiff penalty. It could also be just a small part of a much larger problem.

I recall the Commissioner at the Roundtable telling us about the forthcoming arrests and indictments. They must think we have short memories. There is a host of issues related to illegal netting, AIS being one of the main ones. You can bet there is no concern for AIS by these netters.
