I owned two lowrance fish finders that both took a crap on me within the first two monthes I owned them, I took great care of them, not abused, and their customer service is not very good at all, wouldnt even repair them at a cost or suggest anything for me to do. Told me that they can’t do anything for me. I have a humminbird that works great, just a fish finder that reads depth good but atleast it will work! I recently got a pinpoint made from motorguide that has been working great so far. With my experience, my suggestion for you is to stay away from lowrance.
I have always had good luck with Lowrance, in fact never had a problem. (kind of chevy and ford topic) I suggest
Lowrance® Elite-5 DSI Sonar with GPS
5″ display with 480×480-pixel color resolution
455/800kHz DualBeam transducer
4,000-watt peak-to-peak/500-watt RMS power
200-ft. depth on single frequency
16-channel GPS antenna
3,000 lake maps, plus depth contours to 1,000 ft.
Waterproof micro SD media card slot
One-year warranty
On Sale at Cabelas now for around 419
If you want to try out a very very inexpensive humminbird check out the classifieds
Not looking for cheap. That lowrance at cabelas sounds about like what I’m after.
Just cheap enough that I still have money leftover for my new indepth hoodie!!!!!

If you can find one, go with the Vexilar Edge 3. I bought mine used, had it for 5 yrs, the only problem I had the factory fixed it while I waited and for no charge. Tough to beat that kind of warranty and service-jerr
I would go with humminbird. I have always used one and love them. If you are looking for a cheap generic model, look at the 385ci. It is about $450 and I has the lake chip ability.

Lowrance has a 1 year warranty on their lower end units and a two year warranty on their HDS line.
Which unit did you have that they wouldn’t repair under warranty, after only 2 months of use?
dandorn, I got them both used, the one from a guy i know who for a fact used it gently, it worked perfect when i bought it and he had it just sitting in the house. i dont remember the exact units that they were but were originally over 1 year old. The point i was trying to get across is that when i called their customer service, i specifically asked if they could do anything thing for me, anymore advice, what could be wrong, if I could get it repaired, or buy a new unit at a small discount. They replied that they couldn’t do anything for me. Forgot to clarify that, which is my bad.
Lowrance Elite-5 DSI Fishfinder/Chartplotter Combo- $375 after rebate
I see someone had a bad experience with this unit, but I would check out some reviews, it still might be a good option.
My thought might be to open a can and remove the contents tossing the SPAM into the body of water nearest to which a certian man has a residence and see which fish he finds/er.
my best bet for fish finder???
