…and then you would call it spaghetti sauce.

    Meat+beans+tomatoes+onions+spices=chili.

At the office potluck this year some lady tried passing off a “chilli” that contained zucchini. Sorry, you gotta draw the line somewhere.

I’m not so sure if your thoughts are correct.

Mushrooms in chili is like senior citizens making porn. It’s out there, some people dig it, but it just aint right.

I thought you were going to have a “open” chili cook off this year? I bet the winning chili won’t have shrooms in it. WHY? ’cause it’s not right!

The only fans I have are to blow the chili w/mushroom smell out of my camper.

I can’t believe I will side with BK on this one. Nothing right about mushrooms period on or in anything. They belong in the woods and thats that. I would eat a scoop of earth first it would taste way better

Gotta stay on Kari’s good side. Just open a can of Hormel chilli add mushrooms a scoop of sour cream, and maybe some shredded cheese and enjoyy!!!! It’s got to be better than a spam and onion sandwich!?!

If that is a reply to me I thank you but I am not sure if I qualify as sane and I seriously doubt that I have been accused of that very often

What the . . . Mushrooms in chili?

As I’m sure most of the learned among us are aware, the little known 11th Commandment (it was carved on the back of the tablets due to lack of space) reads thusly:

“Thou shalt NOT engage in abominations by adulterating chili with fungi, for it is a sin and it displeases Him and incurs His very wrath.”

So there you go. God agrees with me that it’s a “no”.

Nope no bias I just love food. The biggest thing I miss about Iowa are the testicle festivals, bbq coon, turtle, smoked carp, flathead, and all the other nummy things I got to try. Ate fried sperm sacks out of a male carp once and it was delicious!! If you have never been to Sutliff Ia. you prolly don’t understand. Bring on the chili!!

I was watching bizarre foods and wondering if since he is from Minnesota, he has a list of bizarre foods available in Mn. I’ll try just about anything once and I am good at judging food at face value and not on the ingredients.

The one thing I like about other cultures is that just about nothing goes to waste. And they also have figured out how to make them taste good.

Does anyone eat the liver/hearts of the fish they eat? Most of the organs of animals offer the best nutritional value. Why waste that?

You might be on to something there Griz.

Pug, you and I both know how many walleye cheeks it takes to feed two people. I can’t imagine how many hearts and livers it would take to feed one.

(waiting for the rrr comment on 40 pound flathead hearts and livers…)

One of the Jello dishes at a pot luck made it into the top 10 worst foods ever episode.

I think I did see that episode, but I thought he also visited the stockyards when they were open and dined on some Hmong food?

There are 3 places on that page in the metro. I wish there was more.

Kari, sorry to say but I’m with BK on this too. No to shrooms in Chili. I made a crock pot of Chili once for work and a guy put a Hormel label on it. That hurt. That’s alright though I don’t like the guy anyway.
