6 or 6’6″ Limit Creek would be perfect. Sourced locally (Hudson Wi) and right in that range. I have both and like them very much. Or if money is tight dont be afraid to buy something cheaper. Even cheap rods nowadays are decent and getting on the water is the most important part of the equation. One opinion. Good luck.

In your price range, the main rods I’d look at would be the Shimano Compre, with a lifetime warranty (over the counter exchange none the less). They have a 6’6″ 1 piece Medium Fast action that is pretty nice, which would be great for pitching. You can order this from Dean at http://anglersguidehq.com/rods/ which I can guarantee he will make sure it’s the right rig for you.

St Croix, has the Eyecon in a 63MXF (medium extra fast) which is capable of handling anything you throw at it. I have this rod, and like it a lot.

Fenwick has a nice HMX in a 6’6″ medium fast as well. Lots of nice choices out there in your price range.

Joe’s has (maybe gone now) two piece Fenwick HMXS MH-2-MF 6’6″ for $39.99. Good for a starter.

These are a great choice. Though I prefer the 8’3″ extendable medium light power for the river just an awesome product. American made, locally!!!!!!

I would think the 3-way rod and the jigging rod would be two completely different rods.

My first rod was a 6-3 avid I got from Dean. I told him what my plans were and steered me in the right direction. Since then I have added more rods to the collection for specific techniques.

He told me one time we were talking “it is best to have the right tool for the job. You don’t have to have the snapon 5/16th wrench but you want a 5/16th inch wrench to remove a 5/16th bolt.” I must say he was spot on

Give Dean a call and tell him what your needs are and he will get you into the right rod for your budget

Good point if $100 range is your limit maybe a couple different $50-60 dollar rods might be what you should look into.

I thought the limit creek rods were made in American also, turns out they are only sold out of Hudson, the rods are imported from somewhere overseas.

How is this, Designed and sold by a small company that happens to be in the local area.

I like to support the local guy when that guy offers a good product that is comparable to what the big conglomerate offers.
