We’re looking to mix it up a bit this year and try someplace different other than Mille Lacs. I realize our options might be limited due to short notice, but we have to try. We are looking for a family orientated resort with decent fishing and nice lodging. We are looking at the first week of August. Any suggestions?
If you have young kids it would be hard to beat the Brainerd area. Plenty of water parks ect. with kids stuff to do. Otherwise if fishing is a bigger priority, Leech is a great option.

Nelson’s resort, Crane Lake. Outstanding. Plenty to do on and off the water.
I just booked a week at Rainy for a family trip. Great place for QUALITY family time. Good luck.
highbanks on lake winnie. anyplace in itasca county. or the new london spicer area. good fishing, clean water lakes to swim. other stuff to visit and spend our money at for the wife!!!!

I go here at least once a year, and they do a bunch of stuff for the kids.
Auger’s Resort on Lake Shamineau is a nice family resort and the lake has good fishing.

We used to go to Sandy Pines Resort on Big Portage lake up by Backus, freshly remodeled cabins a very nice beach, and great pan fishing for the kids.
We used to go during the second Saturday in August and stay a week.
