    Shimano Tekota = Top shelf!

    Daiwa Sealine SG47LCA – Good reel. (on sale for $69.88 @ Cabela’s)

    Okuma = Good reel also. ($109.99 @ Cabela’s – Back ordered )

    Can’t say I know a ton about the Okuma but for the price listed on Cabela’s website right now, you cannot go wrong with the Daiwa Sealine!

    I have zero experience with the okumas. I did however use the diawa saltist line counters for our lead rods and prefered them over my takotas. Better drag and super fast line pickup (47″) for when baits pickup weeds. Same price as the shimanos.

    LC for walleye does not depend a whole lot on the reel its more in the rod. Granted It can help.
    I got some cheapie Cabelas (which are Okuma with Cabelas name on them) about 5 years ago and they are still working the same. Granted there are better reels but I do not attribute any lost fish to my reels/drags.

    If I were chasing salmon constantly then I could justify Tekota but not for eyes.

    If you watch FLW tourneys online when they are trolling the GLs check what they use and they have thousands on the line… Just my opinion.

    Joel, you wouldn’t happen to have a link to the Cabela’s sale on LC 47’s. I’m not seeing it. Thanks

    I’m looking at purchasing a few of the Okuma Cold water reels myself. I checked them out at Cabelas recently, and they are a very solid reel. I wish they made one without the line counter at a reduced price. Really don’t need a line counter for leadcore.

    If fishing for walleye, I much prefer the line counters but if fishing for salmon, I agree, the line counter is nice but not really necessary.
