Oh crap. so sowwy. On a side note I never even got the humidifier out this year. First time EVER. I probably have that new water softener to blame but it has not been near normal winter dryness this year.

    Susuki,
We have to run a humidifier or it shrinks my wood. Floors boys, floors. Also my pups dont like getting the lightening bolt when they jump up by me !

Even static shocks have not been much of a problem this year. Like I said I am amazed. I have been running winter humidifiers for 20 years.

I added central humidification about 10 years ago. Fantastic. Totally worth the money. No water level to moitor, change elements once a year, and it only takes a day to alter humidity levels in the whole house.

Before that, we went through a series of little junky 2-3 gallon units, then we bought one of those big “console” units. The console actually worked pretty well once you got it up and running for a week or so. Problem was that it takes up space, and it’s actually kind of loud so you have to put it in a place where the noise of it kicking on/off isn’t an issue.

Was the Central system something you did yourself or had an HVAC company install? We have Aprilaire on our unit, but it simply isn’t enough to keep up during he winter.
