I think that Phil the Gound Hog’s prediction was a little off! I have fun with my snow removal device too but I’m ready to put it away for at least 9-10 months and get the boat out. Although there is that late ice bite to enjoy yet.

Now I’m hearing maybe a foot.
What’s that you say?
Well shut your mouth!
I used to have one of those, fine tractors. Those Kohler 16hp singles were workhorses. I assume you bought the JD 54″ blade that mounts to the quick hitch in front? Regardless if another brand, you’ll need chains and weights on the little JD to make you happy. I built a weight box for mine and carried 400# on the back. Good Luck
I stumbled on this discussion about spring outlook for river conditions. The info about concrete frost is really interesting. Sounds like timing of the melt and rain will determine how high the levels go.
Winter storm warning now Heavy wet snow. I don’t like it but it will not stick around to long.
It really sucks for our friends along the rivers, but we simply can’t afford another draught in this part of the country. The hay crop was virtually non-existent last year. My cousin’s for example typically are feeding hay from 2-3 years prior. They said the yard will likely be empty by spring this year. Lots of concerned folks out there in farmland.
Right you are kooty, but with 15-30 inches of frost very little of this snow will help replenish the sub-soil moisture which alfalfa depends on. Corn and beans can make it with timely rains, but to get a good forage crop we have to get that sub-soil wet again.

I know there’s more then one river in the midwest, but the Ol’ ‘Sippi is within 8″ of it’s all time low on record. It can handle a little more water.

I actually bought 2 of them, one has the 54″ hydraulic raise and tilt blade, and the other has a tiller on the back. Also came with wheel weights, tire chains, 2 mower decks. I think I’m going to plow some tomorrow, then do it again Tue.

to the High water level and
may the DNR find the cure to zebra mussels.
No doubt most of this will run off before soaking in. Out west, they need the run off too. The stock dams are virtually dry. It was crazy how we were trapping 30 rat huts two falls ago and not a single one on that same dam in 2012.
Light snow here in the NW metro. Uncle in Dickinson is reporting 6+ inches already.
I was expecting a snow covered truck this morning at Everts….nothing…and still nothing in River Falls.
I’m a bit disappointed.

Shouldn’t that emoticon be this ? Or this ? Or this ?
Just a few flurries now in the air. Roads in town aren’t bad now that the salt is kicking in. The country roads are much different. Still very icy. I doubt we have more than a 0.5″ of snow though. Sounds like we might get nailed tonight though. Here’s to a snow day with the kids!!
I’ll believe it when I see it. Looks like typcial overkill by the weatherman.
My uncle is reporting well over a foot in Dickinson. Who knows. That is a long way from here.
