Will be purchasing a new terrova this spring. Noticed the 80 lb thrust only comes 45″ and 60″ shaft. Why would they do this? What happened to the 54″ shaft length?
Power drive still comes in 3 lengths. I have a 1750 fish hawk. Will the 45″ be long enough?

Go with a 60″ and after warranty is done shorten the shaft to your liking

But really 6″ isnt going to make huge difference, after awhile of use you wont even notice it anymore. You may have change the angle of mount to keep the head inside your boat when not deployed.

Don’t even consider the short shaft on your fishawk. Get the 60″ and you will be set. Good luck.

I have a 17′ sylvan with 45″ 42# and was time for an upgrade. Went with the same 45″ terrova because I never had a problem with the other one being to short. Thought about the 60″ but where was the extra 15″ of motor going to go? What length did you have on before? If no problems I would stick with the 45″.

I have a 17′ boat as well, and went with the 60″, works well when in rougher water. It stows away just fine.

If you are ever on bigger water and get some waves the 60 will be very nice. It wont come out of the water and you will have great boat control

I have a 45″ maxxum and hate it. Too short. In big rollers the prop comes out of the water and leaves me to the mercy of the waves. Hit a few docks that way, its not fun.

Throw a ram stabelizer mount on a 45″ shaft and now your down to a 40″. Go 60″ for sure! Before I got rid of my 17′ tin boat it drove me nuts with even the 60″ popping out of the water when its rough.

Go with the 60″, I replaced my trolling motor a couple of years ago with a 45″ as I had before and sure wish I wouldve gone longer, just a bit of chop and the head comes out of the water. This is mounted on a 16 ft lund, Renegade.
I am in the need for a 80# thrust myself, along with the I-pilot, I am getting sick of messing around with an anchor.

I have a custom cover on my 1600 Lund Explorer that was fitted when I had my PD (54″). When I went to the Terrova, I got the 54″ and added I-Pilot. In other words, i didn’t buy the package. Little more money, but I didn’t have to do anything with my cover, etc.

Where would I measure from to determine the length of my existing power drive?

we run 60″ on 3 17′ boats and 1 18′ boat, Tracker, Skeeter, Tuffy, and 1650 Crestliner…. Friends all run 60’s to from lunds to Rangers…

I would get the 60″, I’ve had the 60″ shaft on all my boats from a 1990 16′ Competitor to my current 2005 620.

I went with a 60″ on my 16′ Sylvan and don’t regret it one bit.

Looks like the consesus is go 60″. My powerdrive was a 54″ and it was just fine. Just makes no sense why Minnkota doesn’t make the terrrova with ipilot that way.

I run a 60″ on my Ranger 618vs and I wouldn’t have it anyother way

With the slide collar, you can make it shorter, but you can’t make a 54 into a 60 on a windy day.
