Today my son Ben turns 10. He’s been my outdoors buddy since toddler age, and routinely asks me to head outside and do something with him. He’s gone from being an active little boy, to a genuine and caring young man. Proud of you, bud!
I’m used to being outfished regularly, whether in the boat, chasing pannies on the ice, or squeezing a monster through the hole with Granrud (On Ice #004.) I’ll also never forget the big eyes and look on his face as he leaned over and whispered in the bow stand…”now I know why you asked me to be quiet, Dad” as we watch a 140 class buck sneak away.
Too bad he’s in bed sick, and will miss school today…sescond year in a row on his B-day.
