To think pulling big fish in, snapping pics and taking girth and length measurements and then releasing, that you never “kill” one, I think you may be kidding yourself
That Stag I shot in New Zealand was harvested strictly for the antlers. The meat was “undesirable” and thrown in a ditch. When in Rome ya know.
Every big fish released at least has a chance. Ever animal shot or throw in the live/ice well is 100% dead.
Every animal I shoot or throw in the livewell, ends up on my dinner plate too
(and some the wall to enjoy for years) I can’t say I have ever went after an animal, without the intention of truely “harvesting” all of it… not just for antlers. I would probably give that up too, as I wouldn’t consider it hunting as I was brought up to know it.
