Wanting to get a couple walleye replica’s done, anybody have a favorite shop they use? I’m aware of Fibertech in Nisswa and Artistic in Duluth, just checking to see if there are other options.

FiberTech never fails per my dozens of various species mounts Mike has done for me and my guiding clients. Fast turn around amazes me.

I had won a free replica of a muskie by Artistic Anglers in Duluth and am very impressed in the detail and coloring. Will be using them again in the future for sure!

I’ve had a bluegill, bass and northern done by Fibertech. Very happy with their work and would highly recommend them.

Artistic anglers in Duluth Minnesota. There are no others to even compare to Matt’s work.

MidAmerica in Savage has done all three of my fish, one being a replica smallmouth and they do the best job I’ve seen around

Lets hear the fish story behind these 2 wall worthy piggy’s… Rainy April hog fest? Ottertail? wasn’t there a 13 lb’r netting when harvesting roe?

I’m with ya randman- I have seen too many replicas that are blown up way bigger than the fish actually was. I want the real fish- actual size- and if it’s done right- it will look beautiful just as long. No debate just my preference. Walleyes 30 or 10. Muskie 50. Or a special kid or family moment if legal, and if not- get a replica. Strict and honest. To each their own, used to be all about replica- mind has changed.

A good pic and release is all I need, but that’s just me! Oh yeah, and my daughter.

    Huh?

Not sure which fish I’m gonna use…if I want to keep it local or throw one of the LOW/Rainy fish in as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. Any of you that have had work done by some of these guys, would you want to post pics of your replica’s?

I have had replicas done by Fibertech, Artistic Anglers, and Gary Fittante.

No one anywhere comes close to Fittante’s work, it’s incredible. Somehow it looks more realistic than a real skin mount.

This isn’t a great picture, but it’s a 42 inch northern done by Fittante. There is a bass above it done by Fibertech, and one below done by Artistic Anglers, I wish I had better photos of the bass, but neither of them compares to the northern.

To be sure, I think that he is talking about Joe Fittante and he is out of Antigo, WI, NE of Wausau in the center of the state. While throwing out names, besides Joe Fittante Taxidermy another name is Lax Taxidermy north of Eagle River. Lax Taxidermy

I am of the understanding that Artistic does pretty good work and is probably closer. I just wanted to throw out a couple of names from WI that do supreme work!!!

Correct, I meant Joe, I don’t know why I said Gary! Fittante has done a couple of muskies for my Dad as well, and they look awesome.

His website is very good and has examples of his work.

I do not have any pics that do the fish justice. Bad lighting, poor camera, bad background, etc. check out Matt’s page. Artistic Anglers Gallery

Matt has gone so far as to send his artists all over the world so they hsve first hand experience with majority of species. Matt did my Mahi Mahi and it was 100x better than my brother’s and dad’s that were done at Grey’s in Florida.

That is why I got out of hunting and into fishing. To much killing just for antlers for me. With fishing and replicas I can catch multiple “wall hangers” and never have to kill one of them.

I would argue Matt does “supreme” work as well. He has done 15 fish for us so far. I am not sure if he still does but I know he was contracted with Cabelas to do their fish for some time.

You do know you can eat venison, elk and rabbits (rabbits don’t even have antlers… well except for the elusive jackalope)

To think pulling big fish in, snapping pics and taking girth and length measurements and then releasing, that you never “kill” one, I think you may be kidding yourself

That Stag I shot in New Zealand was harvested strictly for the antlers. The meat was “undesirable” and thrown in a ditch. When in Rome ya know.

Every big fish released at least has a chance. Ever animal shot or throw in the live/ice well is 100% dead.
