We went with Offshore Hustler about this time of year a few years back. I was less than impressed with them. The captain did not seem that interested in being on the water and even went in about 45 min early because it “looked” like rain. Never rained.

We did catch some grouper and snapper that we took to a local bar and they cooked them up for us, which was pretty cool.

When are you going to St Pete? Im going to Tampa over spring break and we are going out with Captain Lee Brick. I have heard a lot of good things about him, including a buddy that went down over christmas break and they caught a lot of fish. Here is his website:

Thank you all for the responses. We put together a last minute trip and are going down Saturday through Wednesday. Hope one of these places still have some openings

I knew a guy that did an evening fish after dark. The perfect charter for a sunburn person. We attacked the trout and others stuff on the intercoastal. I would recommend that type of fishing. It was super fun and challenging and different.

When I have been in the Tampa area, I have fished with Capt. Dave Markett. He took us out of Tarpon Springs (north Anclote River down to Clearwater) the first time. We fished for reds and trout. We ended our day fishing for baby tarpon in the Anclote River after catching and releasing some 75-100 trout and the occasional redfish. After lunch we ran him out of plastics catching baby tarpon, perhaps as many as we did trout in a couple of hours. He then cleaned our limit of trout to take home.

Our second trip we went out of O’Neils in St. Pete, went down to the Skyway bridge to catch bait and then took shots at snook in and around the St. Pete area… We didn’t catch on to the circle hook thing until after noon, but it was a beauty day and while the snook were small that we caught, who knows what we missed for size during the morning as we had plenty of shots at fish!!! Also caught a gator trout and a very nice red!!!

Capt. Mike Witfoth guides out of the north side of Tampa and Boca Grande, if you are running low on opportunities to book something, consider Capt Mike. We have fished with Mike twice (two days each) and is very low key and will work very hard for you.

Fishing Guides Tampa/St. Pete I have never fished with any of these guys, but would highly recommend any of the four below. The Reel Animal guys (Capt. Mike Anderson & Capt. Billy Nobles) are out of the same area, in fact I met Mike while we getting bait under the bridge. They seem to be knowledgeable about the area and it quarry. They seem to be mainly in shore, but I know they do some short trip offshore as well. As for the guides that they list in the link I provided, my preferences would lean toward Capts’ Hagaman and Goodwin.

Have fun and put up a report when ya get back no matter who you book!!!

If you have any other questions, let us know!!! Or if you need more info or just want to talk about it, send me a PM…
