It is amazing how light the traffic is on a banker’s holiday. Either a lot more people are getting these frivolous holidays off, the banking industry has expanded exponentially or the public sector is too big to fail!

I left Everts around 6:15 this morning. With the mild temps, I have to admit I was a bit jealous of the guys rolling in.

I’m at work today. The traffic on my route didn’t seem to be affected much. Still seemed to be roughly the same amount of cars. Nothing like the day after Thanksgiving. The roads are almost empty that morning.

The wife and I both have it off. Neither of us works for a bank or the government. I’m not complaining about a day off, but I would really rather have it during the summer.

How about a vote on what as taxpayers we should be paying for as a federal holiday ? If we get rid of 3 or 4, that should save the government about 2 Billion a year, not they they care…but I can dream

    Here is a current list.

    Federal holidays:
    New Year’s Day
Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
    Inauguration Day (every 4th year)
    Washington’s Birthday
    Memorial Day
    Independence Day
    Labor Day
    Columbus Day
    Veterans Day
    Thanksgiving Day
    Christmas Day

    =========================================================

    I say we cut these.

Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. – Should sunset
Inauguration Day (every 4th year) – Gone, easy one
    President’s Day – Gone
    Labor Day – gone
    Columbus Day – Gone

But then the gas companies would have to come up with a new excuse to raise prices for the weekend.

The wife and I hit up the new Smack Shack for lunch today. I had a blue crab sandwich and washed it down with a tasty double IPA as a toast to you suckers that had to work today.
