In my mind I was comparing the various sponsors we see “pushed” here on IDO and on the show versus the sponsors that are “pushed” on Waters and Woods. I just didn’t type it. We all have bills to pay

Might not be a sponsor for long if you don’t promote the product. Ever notice that Larry Dahlberg always seems to get hungry during filming and needs to get out his Jack Links? Seems like you could wait until done filming to eat.
Gillespie is no worse than anybody else.
Larry doesn’t scream, “GRAB THE JACK LINKS. I’M MESSIN’ WITH SASQUATCH! AARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!”
I actually like guys who use the products they promote. James always has the Marcum and he explains a little bit about it. Larry takes a hunk of beef jerky and talks about the different features of Shimano. The Next Bite guys really like their Mercs and are good with explaining the benefits. They’re all clearly in-show commercials, but they’re unintrusive and informative. Gillespie is just plain obnoxious and it turns me off.

The only show I know of that was staged was Brett’s.
It was staged in the COLD!
I was at Everts when they came in that afternoon. Cold and windy. What was it? A week to 10 days after his pacemaker implant?

YES! Thank you. It is all about delivery. I don’t think any of us expect a show not to be sponsored.
February 15, 2013 at 7:54 pm #1142376I just dislike his show because he has no problem moving in on a guy on a 23,000 acre lake, copying what you’re doing exactly, then presenting himself and the guide as the people who busted their butts finding a techinique and fish. Then again, maybe I’m the only person he’s done this too, but I doubt it.

He has his own audience and thats who he caters to. No such thing as bad press right? These conversation happen weekly about his show I’m sure. Again he`s not for everyone but defiantly one of the most successful fishing shows around the midwest.Rumor has it a beloved cat guy is on the short list for an upcoming episode

Another BK classic! I can appreciate the different point of views. Having worked with several media folks including John, we really had a lot of fun doing the shows I was in. If nothing else, I assure you he has energy an fun! I will admit that his style is remarkably similar and nearly as unique as BK and his 50, 000 posts!

February 16, 2013 at 3:10 pm #1142582Obviously a matter of taste and preference. Watching Angler’s Edge with Al Linder (Jason Halfen on today’s broadcast). While I know they are pushing product, I really prefer the way they are doing it over other hosts.
