Obviously I’m getting particular about things. I get to watch outdoor network TV at work, and I won’t because John Gilespi is on.

If you don’t like John Gilepie’s show then don’t watch it! Why bother posting on IDO? I dispise many people who have fishing shows. Guess what,I don’t watch thier shows and don’t buy the newest products they are testing or promoting…Just sayin…

I would like to see a side note that states: JOE BLOW IS BEING COMPENSATED TO HONK THE PRODUCTS HE IS PUSHING IN THIS SHOW.
At least we would be aware that this is a a paid kind of promo for what is being used.

Thanks for reading my little rant here.

Soon. I don’t know if he will sit still lnog enough for Steelheading just yet. I wouldn’t worry about him. I intend on having his at the cabin and on the lake much more than I intend on having him in front of the computer.

You need to assume every product mentioned is a paid endorsement. The exception would be if the host said “we caught this monster on a hook with a worm”. But, if he says” This monster was caught on a Owner Triple Platinum hook with a Balco steroid induced worm distributed by Biogenesis of Florida tipped with 1/32 oz of Hormel Premium Spam”…. then you can assume sponsorship.

What are you saying? You mean “get the Frabill” isn’t normal fisherman lingo and every big fish picture doesn’t have a Marcum, Frabill or Otter product in the background?

I like Gillespi’s show and format. New spot each week. No re-runs. Maybe its because we are about the same age and still think and act like kids trying to have fun most days.

Does that work? I’m seeking Spam as a sponsor.

Big G’s show is what I call “high energy” and on the other end is Jason Mitchells show. If I had to watch one for 24 hours it would be John’s. He makes me laugh.

IDO? Some place in between with a strong desire for people to see the “how to” portion of the fishing. Not to slow but it’s not like Holst is on some drug either. Is Mt Dew a drug?

As far as sponsors go, it only airs if it works. I count on that!

It is actually the realist fishing show you will watch and he is really a great fun guy who found his own way. He also realizes his show is not for everyone and he films for the real guy audience. Do you know how hard it is to film that many shows in a year? Im not saying anybody has to like it but you have to respect the man for what he does. I always laugh when people tell me they don’t like his show but yet they can sure tell you alot about it or what he says. Must be doing something right!

You make a great point. I still don’t like the show. The main reason is that he still owes me new speakers for my tv.

He’s still on because he’s as annoying as any of the most annoying commercials on tv. Annoying means successful.

ha king you hit it right on the nail…… the guy can sure make you shake your head allot but i catch myself watching it all the time, this morning he was making sure to get as many different faces, (just average joe smo fisherman like myself) on the camera with fish. i thought that was pretty respectful and them guys and several kids will never forget that for sure!

ANYONE that can put a show together 52 weeks a year and airs them the same week has my respect. There’s so much that has to come together is a short period of time and it all starts with the fish actually being caught.

Fleet Farm Photo Of the Week!

PS I love you’re chicken dance Brett. When I do get a chance to watch it, I always point you out to my wife. She giggles.

I don’t understand why people get worked up with the product promotion. Every fishing show does it, even the beloved IDO show. And why not? Might not be a sponsor for long if you don’t promote the product. Ever notice that Larry Dahlberg always seems to get hungry during filming and needs to get out his Jack Links? Seems like you could wait until done filming to eat. Gillespie is no worse than anybody else.

I don’t watch the show much anymore because of the over excitement. How many times do you have to say get the net? Plus I find it a little creepy how touchy feely he is with everyone. I do like the new show every week. I do wonder if any of the show is staged like other shows though.

He fished 2 or 3 days after having his pace maker put in. He has a passion for what he does. Like him or not it is the most up to date show out there. Even IDO adopted the format of bringing you shows filmed the week before this season.

    As for the sponsors part

    TV shows 101

No sponsors, no show. I hope I really didn’t need to say that.
