I know a lot of you have it, so I was wondering, with them continually updating their maps, how do you stay on top of it. Also, how do you download the new maps?

Do you update by periodically making the download area as big as possible and download everything or do you just put the box around the body of water you want to update?

I am asking to see if anyone has gone deeper into the app than me. Some of the “features” I don’t find as intuitive.

I just tried downloading the area around Linwood. It screwed up the map and I had to close and restart several times before the contours would show again. No biggie.

I didn’t know you could update the maps. Guess I should look into it a bit more. Mine are probably way out of date.

I’m relatively new to the nav app but i have a droid and i have had a tough time downloading maps as well, i have to download multiple times before it works. I usually download blocks of lakes just in case i have to bump around. The app store informs me when an update is available and i’m hoping lakes i have downloaded are updated automatically. If anybody knows different please let me know.

The maps do not update automatically, just the app when they update it. The maps are all resource files downloaded separately.

If you search in the articles for a lake, it will tell you if it was updated and what it should look like. If it looks different than what you got, download it.

When you go into the settings by clicking the Menu button, at the bottom there is a button labeled download map. The next screen you define the area you want to download.

The downloaded maps are huge, so I avoid doing it if possible and if I do I make the downloaded area as small as possible. It does defeat the purpose of having it all…and I have a 64GB SD card in addition to the 32 in the phone…

I originally start out downloaded the largest box possible and do it over wireless (wifi). I thought that I once was able to update a lake at a time when there was an update available. Maybe I am thinking of something else.
