Being the prudent energy saver. I decided to shut down my basement bait fridge/freezer in November. Note to self ! Please remember to remove all night crawlers/garden worms/helgramites/wax worms and the package of venison hiding in the corner before opening in February. OMG !

Thats gotta be right up there with fermenting minnows that are left in boats for up to 4 or 5 months above freezing. Still cant get the smell out of the livewells from that.

That couldn’t be all that bad I was at a foreclosure auction of a home that was vacated for over a year. 20+ cubic chest freezer in the basement……and someone just had to open it to see what was inside. Half hour later during the auction out in the front yard, I thought most were going to puke from the stench

Oh ya Randy. IT WAS ALL THAT BAD. Taconite on the range will cure it though I’m sure. Haven’t had dry heaves that bad since ,,,, well forever.

I had a breaker go bad on a freezer that had 3 whole turkeys, a lamb and half of a deer Plus other odds and ends. It was August in a non-air conditioned room for about 3 weeks before I discovered the problem. Very bad, that mess needed lots of bleach.

Should have held on to the wax worms and raised some moths. I just hatched some flies from Euro larva I had left over. Not sure they enjoyed their adult life of 30 degree weather.

    Mr Pugs,

I do believe “Euro Larva” is what I uttered when I opened the door !
