I worked every summer for my uncle on his dairy farm, 5:00 AM until 8:00 PM everyday except Sunday. We would take part of the day off on Sundays unless we had to get crops in because of the weather. Milking cows twice a day 365.

I still help my cousin fill silo and bale hay. He only has beef cattle now, no milking!!!!

Paul Harvey was the man of our day, he had a folksy way of putting things in prospective that made sense to most common folks.
    He is missed for sure.

    Paul missed a few things:
Racing tractors when the parents were at the neighbors, playing Euchre.
Shooting rats in the dairy barn with a pellet gun.
Riding hefers, playing rodeo in the calf barn.
Jumping from the top of the grain bin into the soy beans, seeing who had the guts to jump from the highest point.
Drinking fresh milk, from the bulk tank, trying anything in the world to kill a hang over on Saturday morning from the Chitty-Schmidties.
Playing “guts” with the bull, only to have it bust through the fence to pummel your arse, as you raced for your life to get on the tractor seat.

    and lastly……..
Crawling into bed at 4am, pie-eyed, only to have dad yell at ya to get out of bed at 5am because there was work to do. (I know he knew I was pie-eyed)…..
