Any guesses as to how long we will have to wait for one of the big lake mapping companies to offer a map chip that shows bottom content in in conjunction with contours and depths?

You sure would think they would already include the information.

I think with the current abilities such as structure scan it basically already exists. Structure scan allows the ability to record your down imaging or side scan data and overlay it onto your standard mapping features. You can record a transition area and then overlay onto the map. I just seen a demo of this on the latest “The Next Bite” tv show. Very cool stuff!

That’s true, and you can record the data and make trails to show the transitions.

Also, DrDepth has a product that will generate the bottom hardness maps. A very powerful product for the price. I’ve used it for several years.

Does anyone know if the overlay functionality is available in the humminbirds or is the feature exclusive only to lowrance?
