I couldn’t think of another title for this thread or any other person to ask-so i went with this one, and i wanted your opinion!! I have been going to a “no fee” ATM, as advertised, at Kwik Trip 3550 SETTLERS Kwik Trip STILLWATER MN for several years. I checked my Wells Fargo account and i have been charged $2.50 for each withdrawal over the past several years!!! There’s a sticker at each ATM that says, “no fee” so what do i do to redeem my money???

pretty sure it’s the bank charging you, not the ATM

I’m sure its Wells Fargo charging you the fees, the no fee claim is only good for the fee charged by the ATM not your bank.

Agreed with the last few posts. I used that same exact ATM with my Lake Area Bank ATM without any fees.

Interesting that you dont look at your statement very often

Maybe sign up for on line statements to monitor your account activity more closely

    Wells Fargo…..enough said

I get 6 or 8 free atm withdraws per month after that my bank charges me $.075 per atm withdraw.

They are correct. The no fee statement refers to the ATM owner/operator. Wells Fargo charges the $2.50 fee for use of any non-Wells Fargo ATM. So, if you use an ATM with a fee, let’s say $2, it actually costs you $4.50 to use that ATM.

The SuperAmerica on the South side of Hwy 36 near Taco Bell has a Wells Fargo ATM – that one is free to use.

You should just get a Cabelas card and earn free gear. Then pay off the FULL balance every month.

Been doing this for years…. $40K on your card gets you minimum, a nice $400 rifle just about every year

That was my 1st thought to. Trusting someone else to look after your money is not good. Especially a bank. Given the chance they will screw you over in a heart beat.

I noticed that same thing a few years back on a check card…..but after a couple months. Need to pay attention to the details….I found this out the hard way on a credit card however. I signed up for some stupid protection plan and got a free $50.00 gift card. Finally got sick of all the games the company was playing and didn’t use the card for a month….so balance comes due at end of month and I’m thinking zero. Fifty bucks. I looked back on my statements. Been getting rapped for 5 months. Card was cancelled but a lesson learned. I feel your pain. Sure glad I got that fifty dollar gift card.

    hmmm

I use my WF debit card in ATMs quite a bit; no fee ever charged and no limit on number of times per month

BUT I only use WF ATMs

Not too hard to do, there’s usually a WF branch within reasonable distance; and as C Hof alluded to, I’ve seen a WF ATM in every SuperAmerica I’ve been to.

the reason a bank charges you for using an ATM outside “their network” is because your bank gets charged by the “other network” when you use your card at “some other network’s” ATM (you know, it rolls downhill)

It works the same way with US Bank. Most of their ATMs are in Holiday Stations. It stinks when I have to pay a fee to use a non-US Bank ATM, but I do it on occasion for the convenience.

This happens every so often with my WF check card. they change something with the account and I start seeing WF charges for not using their ATMS. I just make a “friendly” call to WF and they have always removed it.

you would think that Wells Fargo and the other banks would realize that there is a thing now called “THE INTERNET” out there.. and when you rip off one customer, and he posts on “THE INTERNET”, it not only costs you one customer, but many, many more potential customers.. and while this may be a “posted” fee, buried in some fine print, some where, it doesn’t make it right, or make it so that I would want to use the Wells Fargo bank.. and I would bet, that there are others here, who read the post, who feel the same way. its very easy to now tell, 40, 50, or 100 people that you got bad service. with one post.. maybe two if you are on facebook. and out of that number of people , there are potential customers who will not use your product.
trust me, for all the posts I have been reading on the net, I am not going to use a certain fishing product because this long time companies customer service has become poor.. and trust me I am not going to Wells Fargo at any time soon..

You would think that customers would understand that it takes people to fill and maintain those ATMs and if it is not being done by your bank, then someone deserves to make money for providing a valuable service.

Those “no fee ATMs” are still charging a fee from the banks, the bank and the ATM company each takes a piece of the charge to your account.

A few bucks is a small price to pay for access to your funds at millions of locations 24/7 across the world. If you dont want to pay the fee, plan ahead.

Everyone wants free services, then when you ask about their job they are always underpaid. Everyone complains about being underpaid, yet they want free stuff from everybody else.

You know, someone is being payed wages to fill and maintain those machines…. they don’t do their job for free, so why should you get the service for free?

    Greedy greedy people.

I use credit cards for almost everything. I have 4 of them each has rewards for different categories which I use strategically. I pay my balance each usually with a bank debit. By the end of the year I have made >$100. Result is I do not need to carry much cash. If I do need cash, I always use the banks ATM and understand their policy. If you must use a non bank affiliated ATM, take out more money if it is a straight fee per transaction so your costs are lowered.
